Everything You Need to Know About Dysport Treatment
If you’re someone who invests in your appearance, you know how frustrating wrinkles and fine lines can be. They can make you look older and detract from the smooth finish of your makeup. But if you don’t want to use Botox, there’s a less aggressive alternative with equally fantastic results: Dysport.
If you’re not familiar with Dysport as an aesthetic treatment, now’s the time to learn! In this blog, we’ll walk you through the process, results, and aftercare for Dysport treatment. Let’s dive in!
Dysport is an injection containing botulinum toxin A that can treat wrinkles, crow’s feet, forehead lines, neck bands, and even migraines. Injection sites are chosen based on your individual needs and muscle anatomy.
Here’s how it works:
To reduce wrinkles on the skin, your doctor will inject a small amount of Dysport. This neuromodulator calms and blocks muscle movements in the injection area. When your muscles relax, the skin over them becomes softer, reducing wrinkles. It’s worth noting that these effects are only temporary. The aim is to reduce movement to prevent the creation and deepening of wrinkles due to consistent motions with time in combination with heredity and advancing age.
Before & After: What to Expect
If you have a special event or vacation coming up, schedule your treatment at least two weeks in advance.
Stop using the following at least three days to one week before and after your treatment:
- Gingko Biloba
- Garlic, Flax Oil
- Cod Liver Oil
- Vitamin A
- Vitamin E
- Or any other essential fatty acids to minimize bruising or bleeding.
Avoid the following during the next 24-48 hours before your treatment:
- Niacin supplement
- High-sodium foods
- High sugar foods
- Refined carbohydrates
- Spicy foods
You must wait at least two weeks to have botulinum toxin treatments if you’ve previously had cosmetic treatments with laser, ultrasound, peels, facials, or microdermabrasion.
You should see the full effects of your results in as little as two to ten days.
Act now to avoid wrinkles! The effects of the neuromodulator last up to three months, so be sure to book your next appointment before then. Waiting until your wrinkles return will only cause additional stress. If all goes well, we may even be able to space out appointments up to six months apart.
Keep the following in mind regarding your Dysport aftercare:
- For the best results, avoid any chemical facial treatments for at least one week.
- Stay away from laser treatments for around a month after the procedure.
- Do not massage or scratch the injection site. Be very careful with your skincare routine.
- If you experience excessive swelling or bruising, you may try herbal supplements of Arnica to help. Pineapple also has a chemical, Bromelein, that may help decrease swelling.
